one girl's journey across kpop paradise

Hello!

I am an aspiring actress in college, and I just completed a semester abroad at Korea University in Seoul, South Korea. It was an amazing experience, and I truly enjoyed my time there. I especially fell in love with the food, the awesome people, the fashion, the coffee shops, the beautiful buildings and architecture, the many different districts…there are too many things I miss about Seoul to list. My goal now is to become as fluent in the language as possible, so that I can go back and speak like a native ^^ (or as close as I can get to it).

I will post my Korean learning progress, as well as suggestions on how to learn/study Korean! If you want to practice Korean with me via Kakaotalk, Skype, etc. please let me know (email me at beguileiota@gmail.com) and we can become Korean study buddies! (I need to practice my Korean more =___=)

I am also a huge k-pop/k-drama buff, so I have made the following guides:

K-dramas:
K-Drama Ratings

K-pop:
Favorite K-pop Groups

Omg thank you so much for your nice words! <3 I really enjoyed Korea and I just wanted others who love it as much as I do to get a sense of what it's like (and I'm planning on going back). I didn't get to meet celebrities, but I did get within arms-reach of Sistar! And I saw Infinite, SNSD, SHINee, Teen Top, and some others perform, so I was very happy. I went to your blog and your articles are really interesting! Keep it up <3

WOW it sounds like you had a blast!!! We were thinking about visiting Korea sometime this year. Your tips were really really helpful :) But both of us don’t speak Korean so maybe we should brush up on that first haha! Just so that we can at least order food in a restaurant. Any places that are must visit?

Yeah, I think it’s pretty important to know how to say basic things in Korean, especially if you want to order food. If you want some tips on that, I can make a new blog post about it…in fact, it’s been so long since I made a blog post, I probably should ^^ I have a list of 3 favorite Korean foods on my “Seoul Recommendations” page but I honestly think you can’t have a bad Korean meal in Korea. If you’re not sure what you like, you will always be okay ordering bibimbap or a variation (dolsot bibimbap), pajeon (scallion pancakes) or hwemul jeon (squid pancakes), but my favorites are kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew, so rich in flavor) and pudae jjigae (it’s called “army stew,” and it tends to have ramen, pieces of rice cake, sausage, vegetables), sooo delicious.

Ooh Seoul National is the best uni in Korea, I hope you know that! If you don’t know any Korean, I recommend you get this book – It’s called “Integrated Korean Beginning 1” and you can get it from Amazon. Hope this helps!
